You've heard the pitch: an AI agent that files your state compliance reports for you. But what does that actually look like? What happens after you sign up? This post walks you through the entire process — from creating your account to watching your first filing happen in real time.
The whole thing takes about five minutes to set up. After that, it's either one click or fully automatic. Here's how.
Step 1: Sign up and add your business entity
Start by creating a free account. No credit card required. Once you're in, you'll add your business entity — your LLC, corporation, or nonprofit. You'll enter the basics: entity name, state of formation, entity type, and your SOS (Secretary of State) entity number.
If you have multiple entities — say an LLC in California and a corporation in Delaware — you can add them all. Each entity gets its own profile, its own deadlines, and its own filing history.
Step 2: AI extracts and verifies your business data
Once your entity is added, NeverMissAFiling pulls your current information from the state's public records. Officer names, registered agent, principal address, mailing address — all of it. This data is displayed in your dashboard so you can review and correct anything before a filing happens.
This is a key difference from traditional filing services. They ask you to provide all the data. We pull what's already on file with the state and let you confirm or update it. Less manual work, fewer errors.
Step 3: Add your portal credentials (encrypted)
To file on your behalf, the AI agent needs to log into your state's Secretary of State portal. You'll enter your portal username and password in NeverMissAFiling. These credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM encryption — the same standard used by banks and government agencies. They are never stored in plain text, and our team cannot see them.
Your credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Not even our engineering team can read them. This is non-negotiable security for a product that handles government logins.
If you don't have portal credentials yet, we walk you through creating an account on your state's filing website. It takes about two minutes.
Step 4: Launch your filing — Cockpit Mode or Autopilot
Now the fun part. You have two options:
Cockpit Mode: You click "File Now" and watch the AI agent work in real time. A live browser window appears in your dashboard. You see the AI navigate to the state portal, log in, fill every form field, and submit. Every click, every keystroke, every page — visible to you. If something looks wrong, you can pause or cancel.
Autopilot Mode: You set it and forget it. The AI files on schedule — typically a few weeks before your deadline. You get an email confirmation with the filing receipt when it's done. No action required on your part.
Both modes produce the same result: a completed, submitted filing with the state. The difference is whether you want to watch or not.
Step 5: Get your confirmation
After the filing is submitted, NeverMissAFiling captures the confirmation page from the state portal. You'll see the confirmation number, the filing date, and a summary of exactly what was filed. This is stored in your dashboard permanently — no more digging through email or calling your CPA to ask "did you actually file?"
You'll also receive an email with the confirmation details, so you have a record outside the platform.
Step 6: Next deadline is auto-scheduled
Once a filing is complete, NeverMissAFiling automatically calculates your next deadline based on your state's filing cycle. California requires annual filings. Delaware is annual for corporations. Some states are biennial. The system knows the rules and sets your next reminder and filing date accordingly.
You'll get email reminders as the deadline approaches — 60 days, 30 days, and 7 days before. If you're on Autopilot, the filing happens automatically. If you prefer Cockpit Mode, you'll get a prompt to launch the filing when it's time.
What it costs
Your first filing is free. After that, plans start at $20 per year — not per filing, per year. Compare that to $200-$400 per filing from a CPA or $100-$300 from compliance services like Harbor Compliance or LegalZoom.
The state filing fee (typically $20-$25) is separate and paid directly to the state during the filing process. NeverMissAFiling doesn't mark up state fees.
Ready to try it?
If you're tired of overpaying for compliance filings — or worse, missing deadlines because your CPA forgot — sign up for free and file your first report in minutes. No credit card. No commitment. Just a government form, filed correctly, for the price it should actually cost.
